Spring is upon us; the Sun is out, the evenings are even lighter and I cut the grass the other day for the first time this year. Oh, how I missed the smell! Before I knew it, March has come to an end and with that it’s time for the next monthly summary. It’s been a very very busy one, so we have a lot to catch up on! From books to blog posts and some family time with my mother and siblings, it’s truly been the best month this year.

What I’ve been up to in March 2019

It’s been a crazy busy month, and I barely made a dent in my chosen TBR. I think I will scrap it all together and pick books that scream out to me next month.

Started The Girls by Lisa Jewell and I just could not get into it. Not sure what it was, but it just didn’t get my attention, so I suppose you could say it’s on my on hold list for now.

I finished 4 books. And get this, majority were Kindle books! (who am I)

Beautiful Bad – Annie Ward (NetGalley ARC, Pub Date: 21 March 2019)

I requested this, because of the blurb. I know, I’ve previously said I don’t read the blurbs properly, which is still the case, but I just loved the first line. An army man and travel writer met despite all the odds. Yes please, I’ll have some of that romance, thanks! In reality it turned out to be a twisty, dark and remarkable thriller. I was completely hooked from the beginning and have zero regrets requesting it.

Beautiful Bad is out on hardback and Kindle, so go get your copy. It’s great!

A Whole New World (A Twisted Tale) – Liz Braswell

Okay, let me be honest here. It was okay. Turning my whole childhood upside down with the fact that Aladdin never did get the lamp. Braswell’s style is funny, so I did enjoy that. I just wasn’t keen on one of my favourite fairy tales having a different path. (I’m a creature of habit, damn!)

Sleep – C. L. Taylor (NetGalley ARC, Pub Date: 04 April 2019)

Another great thriller! Only the second book by the author, but I’m glad I have another four waiting on the shelf to be picked up. Sleep follows Anna and the 7 strangers who come to holiday in the remote island of Rum and stay in the hotel where she works. Then a storm hits, and everyone is stranded for the next week. Let just say that all sorts of stuff goes down, and Sleep will keep you up til the early hours of the morning.

Available to preorder – out on 4 of April! Go-go-go!!

The Opposite of Always – Justin A. Reynolds (NetGalley ARC, Pub Date: 4 April 2019)

The most anticipated, and hands down my favourite March read! A mix between The Fault in Our Stars and Groundhog Day, it’s a great read! Young romance, difficult family relationships, unconditional love and time travel – oh to be 18 again! Opposite of Always is just so beautifully written, it’s funny and sad and everything in between.

I’ve already pre-ordered the paperback copy – you should, too. Out April 4th!

I purchased a couple of new books too, as I do…

Charity Shop Finds

The Alienist – Caleb Carr

New books

Ann Cleeves – Wild Fire

The Green Mile – Stephen King

Atonement – Ian McEwan

I had a crazy NetGalley month, I was approved for 5 ARCs!

I will be doing another when I hit 500, and this time it will be international, for sure! It was so much fun!
