Hi friends! In my last post (read here) I wrote about how things seem to be moving along smoothly – think I may have jinxed it..

I had a follow up meeting with the plastic’s team a couple of weeks after the CT scan. Personally I think this meeting could’ve been carried out over the phone as I spent more time waiting to be seen than in the actual consultation room, but in the end I had good news about the scan. The blood vessels are looking great and my belly is a good donor site, which means that DIEP Flap reconstruction surgery is possible. Yay to that at least!

I’ve also finally been scheduled to meet the psychologist, which I think is the last hurdle in ticking all the boxes before we can start talking about actually scheduling the surgery with the plastic’s and the breast surgery teams.

However, the breast surgery team’s appointment keeps getting moved and it’s really quite frustrating. The original appointment was booked for the 18th October, then moved to the 25th and yesterday I got another notice that the appointment has been rescheduled for the 10th November.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate that unforeseen circumstances happen and postponing an appointment for a few weeks isn’t the end of the world in the grand scheme of things. I know there are people out there that need to be seen before me because their cases are more urgent. Yet I can’t help but feel a little disheartened.

Anyway, slowly but surely I know we’ll get there. I will keep you posted!
