Book Review | I’m Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid

Blurb: A woman embarks on a road trip with her new boyfriend, Jake, amid doubts about her commitment. They are visiting his parent’s remote farm. When the two take an unexpected detour in a snowstorm, she is left wondering if there is any escape at all.

My thoughts: Let me tell you, I’m Thinking of Ending Thing truly is a bumpy, trippy, tense road trip. The atmosphere the author has created in this book gave me major Get Out and Shutter Island vibes. Something that is right up my street.

My anxiety levels rose steadily from the first page and it had me wrapped in it’s claws throughout.

I’d recommend if you’re into suspenseful, dark stories with an incredibly unreliable narrator. đź‘Ź

Sometimes a thought is closer to truth, to reality, than an action. You can say anything, you can do anything, but you can’t fake a thought.

Netflix has also just released the adaptation for I’m Thinking of Ending Things. I would recommend watching it, too. It’s just as tense, dark and a lot of crazy as you’d expect from reading the book.
