And just like that, we’re through the first month of the second quarter of 2019 and it’s time for April wrap-up. Personally, April is my favourite month. For very selfish reasons: it’s my birthday month! I spent a whole week at home, back in Estonia. It was great as the weather was unusually warm and I managed to spend a lot of time with my nana. My boyfriend flew out to surprise me for my birthday so I really couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. Anyway, long story short, here’s my April Wrap-Up.

What I’ve been up to in April 2019

Reading wise April was also the most successful month so far this year. The fact I had a week off work really did help with this. I managed to finish all but one of my chosen books for April and I am currently in the process of finishing this as well.

I finished 6 books

Blacklands – Belinda Bauer

I really like this one. It was easy to read, sinister and interesting. It was a simple story – a boy and a serial killer. What can go wrong?

The White Queen – Philippa Gregory

Oops, the only one I haven’t done a review on! I gave it 4 stars, because I’m a sucker for some historical period drama. It took me a while to get through and it was a carry over from March TBR. Plus I didn’t enjoy the main character Elizabeth as much as I did her mother in The Lady of the Rivers BUT the writing was still good. I felt I learnt a lot again and I just love Gregory’s style. The whole series promises to be a good one.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine – Gail Honeyman

One of my favourites this month! I think about Eleanor a lot, since finishing it. I felt like I lost a friend when the book was done. Check you the full review to see more. It’s SO worth the hype.

Columbine – Dave Cullen (audio)

The first audio book I felt was sooooo good but incredibly difficult to listen to. It was one of the Murder Monday Book Club picks for April and I am glad, in search of a better word, that I read it. It’ll be a one of read for me though as the subject matter is heavy!

I Know Who You Are – Alice Feeney (NetGalley ARC, UK Pub Date: 16 May 2019)

Wohoo, one of the Kindle books. In fact t h e only kindle book I read this month. It was great, but see more in my review what I’d change about it.

The Corset – Laura Purcell

Yes, as I suspected I’d love it – I totally did. The setting was great, the writing was great, the story was great. That’s why lol. Although not better than The Silent Companions, Purcell’s books will be my newest auto-buys.

I DIDN’T BREAK MY BOOK BUYING BAN! but..

… I did end up with quite a few new books.

Opposite of Always and Twisted were both pre-orders. Let’s not count those!

Fixed Odds was kindly sent to me by a publisher and it is on my May TBR already. It sounds SOOOOOO cool.

My friend gifted me Different Seasons and The Silent Wife and I cannot wait to read those!

Also, whilst I was away I got some books from my nan and mum. I love that they’re all in Estonian.

I can’t remember when was the last time I read in Estonian, and have therefore added Snow in April by Rosamunde Pilcher to my May TBR.

So, yes – technically I won but honestly how did I still end up further 8 new books this month??! There’s really no helping me.

How does your April wrap-up look like? Did you manage to read everything on your TBR or did you get distracted with something else?
