Happy Tuesday” I’m so excited for this week. My mother is coming to visit with my sister and little brother, and I just CANNOT wait for them to get here. It’ll be fun to have all our different personality traits under one roof for a couple of days. Personality traits is also what I will be discussing today!
Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where a wide range of topics is being discussed from books to blogging. This week’s theme:
What personality traits do you love/hate in a character? (Courtesy of Roberta@ Offbeat YA)
Another fantastic theme. It’s a little hard to not draw similarities between the characters’ personality traits I love, and ones not so much, with the people in real life… but..
I’ve made no secret about the love I have for Eddie Flynn (here’s an example) – he is smart, clear-headed and passionate. What’s not to love?!
I love a relatable character; someone who’s shoes I can put yourself in and experience the story through their eyes. One of those was Jacquetta from Lady of the Rivers. Yes, yes I know- when will I stop banging on about this book, right? Well, firstly – probably never. Secondly, Jacquetta was an incredible character. Persuasive, strong and independent woman during the time when the world was literally run by men. Not that I can relate to her in that sense, but I consider myself rather independent and strong.. but perhaps not persuasive, more like stubborn.
I dislike narcissistic, lying, superficial and manipulative characters. Arguably they do make the story more interesting, but I am finding it soooooo difficult to relate and can very rarely understand their side.
So in summary I like my characters as I like the people around me. I dislike the characters as I dislike the people who’s paths mine sometimes crosses with.
What is your favourite personality trait and why? Let me know in the comments!
