Hi Friends! It’s me again- coming at you with a “behind the scenes book blogger tag” like a professional blogger, lol!
I saw this cute tag on Molly’s Book Nook and thought it fun to tag myself. Here goes..
When did you start blogging and what was your first review?
I had been thinking about it for a few years, actually. But I’m not that great at writing so I always put it off until I finally decided to go for it in August 2018. My first review was JP Delaney – The Girl Before. This book was also Bookskatlikes first Instagram post.
Who/what inspired you to start blogging?
I’ve always loved books, but needed to be in the right mood to read one, so I hadn’t actually picked up a book for a while. Call it a long-long reading slump if you will. When I finished A Stranger in the House and The Girl Before in two days, I was completely hooked again. The blog was just another way of keeping track of all the books I planned to read. Why I decided to go for it then, and not years earlier, I’m still not entirely sure, haha.
What is a blog-related goal that you have?
Hmm, I guess what I want to achieve is to read more and to find love for writing. Never been great at it and this is a fun way to practice.
My main goal is to inspire others to pick up a book or two, too!
Where do you usually blog? What does your setup look like?
I don’t have a set up, haha. I blog wherever I end up sitting at the time- at the kitchen table, in bed, on the sofa (where I am currently) with an ample supply of tea. I can’t wait until it gets warmer so that I can enjoy writing in the garden with a cold cider!
What is one thing you wish someone told you about blogging?
You will need to be the website builder, graphic designer and a writer if you want to do it all by yourself. It’s not easy, takes a lot of time, but I assure you it’s totally worth it in the end.
What was your biggest blog-related accomplishment?
Starting one, and not quitting.
What types of posts do you enjoy writing?
Book reviews, which was the original plan.
I’ve now done a bit of research and found so many other cool things I could write about (but haven’t got around to yet), so there will be a lot more bookish chit-chat posts, too!
What was your last 5-star read?
The Defence – Steve Cavanagh. (Honestly, I’m borderline obsessed with the author.)
What was your last 1-star read?
Errr, I don’t think I’ve ever read a 1-star book. What was yours?
What are three words that make you pick up a book?
Murder. Disappearance. Obsession. (I know, morbid! But I love a thriller. What’s a girl to do?)
What is your Hogwarts house?
Am I getting thrown out of the book community for I have never ever read Harry Potter?
What is your favourite reading environment?
A quiet place (no reference to the film!). I love to read in complete silence.
What advice would you give to new bloggers?
I’m myself still fairly new in this game. But I will say this:
If you like writing – go for it. If you don’t like writing – challenge yourself and go for it! Write about things you love, and never be afraid to ask for advice. The bookish community is so welcoming, warm and helpful I have not yet regretted joining it!
What makes you follow a book blog? What type of content do you want to read? Let me know in the comments!
