Book Review | The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor

Before I sat down to write the summary of The Chalk Man, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. As a recommendation I had quite high expectations and the synopsis sounded so good!

I’ve spent a while going through the story of The Chalk Man in my head tonight to be able to write the review without giving too much away and actually it was pretty decent. Not the best, granted, but I might one day maaaaybe pick it up again. That is if I ever get through my to be read pile, which by the way is up on my Instagram and is absolutely RIDICULOUS!! Come take a look and feel free to point a finger and laugh.

Anyway, where was I?!

Eddie, Fat Gav, Hoppo, Metal Mickey and their “gang’s” only girl Nicky were best friends growing up in the 80s. Exploring woods and building forts, riding their bikes around the neighbourhood and spending time in the playground.

They started drawing chalk figures on the streets with secret messages to each other, and for a while it was fun. But an innocent game turned ominous when they started to appear on their own and lead them to a dead body.

Fast forward 30 years and the nightmares return. Is Eddie losing his mind? Can he find the truth of what happened to the girl in the woods before he forgets?

No one wanted to hurt her.. Who would want to kill her?

Sometimes things happen and there is no reason. That’s just how life is. Death, too.

I will give this one a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
