My thoughts: So it has taken me over two months to actually write the review on White Nights. I was going through the biggest reading slump early December and I was busy with hosting my family in London, sightseeing around the city.. then Christmas happened.. and before I knew it – BOOM – it’s February!
Short summary:
- It took me two attempts to get into it.
- I still like Perez, Taylor not so much.
- A pattern is forming with the person who finds the first body in Cleeves’ books.
- I was kept guessing to the end about who the murderer was, but it wasn’t as surprising as Raven Black.
- I enjoyed the book second time around.
I was upset with the ending, not only because I didn’t see it coming, but I was hoping the “bad guy” was someone else, just because I didn’t feel connected to that particular character! Lol
Anyway, a firm 4 out of 5 stars. Another brilliant book by Ann Cleeves, the Queen of mysteries.
