Sharp Objects was another suggested book I decided to add to my September TBR.
Although my friend said this book is great, I felt I had let her down a little. I struggled through the first half of this book.
I’d rather not have had the first half at all. I struggled relating to any of the characters. The story was slow and I struggled to concentrate.
But let me tell you, the second half picked up the pace. By the end of it I wished there was more!
Camille Preaker is a reporter at the Daily Post in Chicago. When her editor Frank discovers that a little girl has been murdered in her home town at Wind Gap and another 10-year-old was missing, he feel this could be the big break the paper needs.
Camille, haunted by a family tragedy, finds herself back at a place she has avoided for the past 8 years. She is back at the family house reacquainting herself with her distant mother and a precocious 13-year-old half sister who has a disquieting grip on the whole town.
As out-of-town detective Richard Wills joins the investigation of the bizarre crimes, Camille starts to put the whole thing together, a puzzle that just get her skin zinging. An itch that just needs a sharp little scratch…
3.5 out of 5 stars for this one.
(Perhaps a little harsh but the two previous books, The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Snap, have truly raised the bars for me.)
