The first three months of this year have literally flown by. I know I say it a lot, but it’s a bit difficult to fathom that we’re in April already and ¼ of a way through what seems to become one of the most difficult years in living memory. Well at least for me.
April is my birthday month and the older I get the less I think about throwing a massive party, or having presents etc. I just want my nearest and dearest to be around me. The original plan was to fly over to Estonia for my 32nd birthday at the end of the month and of course with the pandemic and restrictions placed on all of us it is no longer possible. I miss my family even more now I can’t just jump on the next flight out if I felt like going to see them.
Having said that, I have kept on reading and today’s post is a quick what I’m hoping to become a regular quarterly update for you guys see what I’ve been reading and just some nerdy statistics.
What did I read?
In the first quarter of the year I read 8564 pages over 22 books. Of those 15 were paperbacks (not surprising at all as I prefer those!). I also read 1 hardcover, 2 Kindle and listened to 4 audio books.
The books I read in the last three months were mostly picked from the TBR Jar. But there were four authors that come out of the jar more than any other. Stephen King is not a surprise because I have a lot of his books on the shelves still waiting to be read. Other authors include Ruth Ware, Jodi Picoult and C.J. Skuse.
9 books were by authors I’d never read from before and who were new to me. C.J. Skuse was one of them and I absolutely love her writing- it’s dark, humorous and thrilling.
Thrillers/Crimes and Mysteries are still my go to genres. That in itself isn’t surprising because I have not bought any new books this year. Stop it! It’s been HARD! I will update my New Year’s resolution progress in more detail in an upcoming post, have no fear. Please subscribe so you don’t miss it!
I DNF’d (did not finish) 2 books. Both of those were my 2020 Reading Challenge choices and I’m starting to think if it was in fact a good idea to venture outside my comfort zone! Oops.
