Updated thoughts on using a Kindle | Bookish Chit-Chat

About two and a half months ago, I ventured into a territory I have been against for the longest. I purchased a Kindle. My initial thoughts can be found here. Think it’s time to tell you my updated thoughts on using a Kindle as I’ve had it for a while.

Since it arrived in post I’ve finished 5 eBooks. I have a further 3 ARC’s and multiple other books waiting to be read. Full advantage will be taken whilst I’m on holiday from today, believe me!

I’ll be flying back home for Easter and birthday celebrations and I’m so excited! The fact I can take so many books with me, without actually having to carry them all, is a beautiful thought! I’ve never traveled this light, haha!

Here’s what I think about Kindle now:

  1. It’s as light as a feather (this has not changed)
  2. It’s bloody convenient (hundreds of books at your fingertips! What!!!)
  3. It’s made me read more (this is shocking because I actually prefer a physical book!)
  4. It’s made me find books I’d normally maybe wouldn’t go for if I saw them on the shelf at a book store

I’m just going to go and say it, something I never thought I would – I LOVE KINDLE. I love it.

I know! I’m as shocked as you are.

How do you feel about e-readers? Do you think they will eventually replace a physical book? I hope not!

  1. I recently bought myself a new kindle because my old one has been unusable for years and I’ve been loving it too! You’re right, even though I prefer physical books I’ve been reading a lot more since I got my kindle too!

    1. Absolutely, and this is shocking! My boyfriend is very smug because he offered to buy me one before and I was dead against it 😏

  2. I love my kindle!
I still buy plenty paper books, normally ones from favourite authors that I want a physical copy of or books bought on a whim when I’m out and about.
But storage space is an issue for me so having hundreds of books on my kindle helps with that! And also when it comes to packing for a trip away – a kindle takes up much less space than 3 or 4 books in my bag!

    1. Agreed! I just love to see the books on the shelf. But I’ll appreciate the Kindle on my holiday I can already tell 🙂

  3. I’m glad you’re enjoying it so much! I love my kindle. I don’t use it all the time- I still enjoy a good hardback from the library the most, but it really does come in handy when traveling, for reading with your hands in your sweatshirt or under the blanket when it’s cold, for downloading instant books from various sources (Amazon, library, other online booksellers, etc). It’s such a convenient piece of technology. I don’t think ebooks will ever be 100% of the market, but I’m all for anything that adds to our reading experience and makes reading more accessible to everyone! 🙂

    1. Yes, agree totally. Although I tend to read very little hardbacks because they’re so massive and uncomfortable to carry around. So yes, ebooks are so convenient 🙂

They just need to add the technology where you can smell the smell of books whilst reading an ebook lol
