Book Review | The Ghost Hunters by Neil Spring

Borley Rectory was the perfect manifestation of a haunted house. Standing in the shadow of tall cedars, the place had a decayed and neglected air and was startlingly large.

Synopsis

1926

My name is Sarah Grey.

I knew of Harry Price before I became his trusted assistant. he was notorious – London’s greatest ghost hunter.

Working alongside Harry meant leaving behind my past – and I trusted him.

I knew of Borley Rectory, too, before I visited it with Harry – supposedly the most haunted house in England.

I knew there was no such things as phantoms; that I could visit Borley without fear, return unharmed.

These are the things I thought I knew.

I now understand the true meaning of terror.

There is something you can’t see. And it’s around your neck.

The Ghost Hunters was one of the longest standing book on my TBR list. I remember being very exited to have picked up a copy when it first came out five years ago, but for some reason I didn’t quite do it for me first time round.

I’ve always been into all things paranormal, ghostly and spiritual. Luckily I decided to give it another go and this time I was hooked from the first page. The author kept the whole story believable by adding actual news articles and what I really liked was that the references were at the end of each chapter, which you could research yourself.

Ugh, and the chills I got reading this book!!

Spring brought the true story to life with a pinch of fiction, building an engaging and spooky narrative that will keep you turning the pages late into the night (with the lights on, of course!).

Read to find out what really went down at Harry’s laboratory and Borley Rectory. Be prepared to get spooked!

A definite 5 out of 5 stars!

The Village Lost, the sequel, is now on my December’s list to read. I missed Sarah and Harry as soon as I finished The Ghost Hunters.
